I've been luck in my career so far to be able to work with some of the top talent in the music business. I've worked as a camera operator for Beyonce, Bob Dylan, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Wu Tang Clan, and Billy Joel, to name a few.
There is something about the energy in a large live performance that you don't get from narrative work, where you can usually ask for another take. Being behind the scenes of a large musical performance and watching it unfold through the viewfinder is exhilarating.
It's not just music which has that energy, many live events are like this. There is something to be said for capturing a live event beautifully and organically as it unfolds in front of your lens, and all of your experience and skill is tested in real time in front of an audience.
No matter what the scale of your event, when you are looking for event photography, be sure to hire experience with the ability to get the job captured correctly the first time. Once that moment is gone, you want the confidence that it was captured perfectly.
